What Is Voltage?
Voltage is the electrical potential difference between two points — the “push” that moves charges. Its unit is the volt (V). In the water analogy, voltage is the pressure that pushes the water. Without voltage there is no current; together with resistance they are linked by Ohm's law (V = I × R).
