Why Did Type-C Stand Out?

In Type-C both ends are the same, and the CC line determines which side is the host. So although Type-C cables look "directionless", roles are assigned electrically.

  • CC resistor: if the correct pull-down isn't placed on the CC pin in Type-C, the device isn't recognized.
  • Current limit: the connector's power limit must not be exceeded.
