A USB connector is the connector family that provides the physical connection of the USB interface. It carries both data and power.

Why Did Type-C Stand Out?

Host and Device Side
In classic USB there's a Type-A on the host (computer/charger) side and a Type-B/Micro/C on the device side; this asymmetry prevents wrong connections. In Type-C both ends are the same, and the CC line determines which side is the host. So although Type-C cables look "directionless", roles are assigned electrically.
Common Mistakes
- Mechanical legs: if the holding legs aren't soldered, the connector rips off the board.
- CC resistor: if the correct pull-down isn't placed on the CC pin in Type-C, the device isn't recognized.
