Review PDF datasheets on the part page
An electronic component's datasheet is the official technical document published by the part's manufacturer — and now you can reach that PDF directly from the part page. The first rule of choosing the right part is to decide from the manufacturer's document, not hearsay.
Which parameters are critical in a datasheet?
- Supply voltage range: does the part work on your design's supply rail?
- Package and footprint: does it fit your board physically? (DIP, SOIC, QFN, BGA…)
- Operating temperature grade: commercial, industrial or automotive?
- Current / voltage limits: do the absolute maximum ratings cover your operating point?
- Pinout and function: is the pin arrangement what you expect?
Don't let an MPN's "siblings" fool you
Different suffixed versions of the same family can be very different parts: the same IC may ship in both DIP and SMD packages, or in commercial (0–70 °C) and industrial (−40–85 °C) grades. A single letter in the suffix can decide whether it fits your board.

Datasheet links on part pages are matched to point to the component's manufacturer-official document. The goal is simple: the right datasheet for the right part.
A real scenario
You move a regulator that worked in a prototype to mass production and order the reel-suffixed version of the same MPN — without checking the package on the datasheet. When the parts arrive, the footprint doesn't fit. Had you confirmed the package from the datasheet page in ten seconds, you wouldn't have lost that batch.
